Windmills

Mills are an abundant element of Galician architectural heritage. These constructions were used for the grinding of cereals, especially corn and wheat, producing flour for food use or cattle feed.

Rivers and estuaries were harnessed to power them. There are also a few mills that harvested energy from the punishing winds.

Thanks to its geographical setting, Ribadeo has tide mills, water mills, and windmills.

As Aceñas mill

Rinlo mill

This tide mill is located by an inlet with the same name in the parish of Ove. It is thought to date back to five or six hundred years, although there are no records to support this.

It consists of a dam that does not fully close the inlet, and the mill itself.

Campo de San Pedro mill

This mill is in the parish of Rinlo. It has a rectangular ground plan with masonry walls, a slate gabled roof with curved tiles, and a door with a lintel.
