10. Casa del Óptico

Casa del Óptico

This building, found in a somewhat out-of-the-way location next to an old way into town, owes its name to optometrician Pedro García.

The house was built in the early 20th century, closely following Indiano sensibilities.

For instance, at the top there is a gurugú mirador, which was a common feature in merchants' and shipowners' houses in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The garden houses a century-old acacia and a palm tree, which the Indianos favoured.
